NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND ALL MOTOR VEHICLES IMPORTERS
The Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) started to inspect used motor vehicles in 2002, since then international tenders are advertised to look for qualified agents/companies to inspect vehicles on behalf of TBS. The former tender expired in 2014 hence TBS re-advertised international tender for inspection of used motor vehicles from Japan and United Arab Emirates. Companies which won international tender and their inspection fee charges are as follow:
With effect from 1st January 2015 the mentioned above companies will be inspecting used vehicles on behalf of Tanzania Bureau of Standards. Please note that the above mentioned inspection fee are fixed.
Therefore we remind all importers of used motor vehicles from Japan and United Arab Emirates that, it is a MUST to inspect all used motor vehicles before they are shipped to Tanzania.
Legal action will be taken against whoever contravene with this notice. This will include 30% penalty of CIF value plus inspection fee at destination point of USD 140 and USD 125 for used vehicles from Japan and United Arab Emirates respectively.
