SOLOMON MAHLANGU CAMPUS (SMC) SPORTS AND GAMES
INFRASTRUCTURE SITUATION
Through realizing the importance
of sports and games to the student and the staff of the university which can
never be minimized that is, Firstly they are good exercises and help to build fine
physique for the boys and girls. They make them
mentally alert and physically strong. Further, good health is one of the most important benefits of games and sports. Secondly, students learn to cope with difficult situations. By displaying their feats before many spectators, they can overcome their nervousness. Thirdly, games and sports are good diversions and give them energy to learn their lessons well. Fourthly, It gives the necessary break from the everyday monotonous life. Fifthly, games and sports help building a sense of cooperation and team-spirit in an individual. Sports like cricket, football, etc. are won by the collective efforts of all the members of the team.

Therefore,
Solomon Mahlangu Campus decided to establish sports and games playing grounds.
The playing grounds at SMC includes football pitch, volley playing ground,
basketball playing ground and netball playing ground.
The
aforementioned playing grounds are explained in details hereunder.
FOOT BALL GROUND.
The
campus football ground includes the football pitch (which is referred as the playing surface for the
game of association of footballl by the football
players), a special platform which is covered at the top where technical team
staffs and team players stay when the game is continuing.

VOLLEYBALL
AND BASKETBALL GROUND
These two grounds
are placed in one fence but is divided in the way that players of these two
games never collide when they are performing their games inside the fence.

CHALLENGES FACING SPORTS AND GAMES AT THE SMC
Despite the effort shown by the
university administration in establishing and improving the sports and games
infrastructures and facilities to enable students and other staffs at the
campus who are interested in certain games there are still a challenges such as
inadequate playing grounds which will accommodate the increasing number of
students and staffs who are interested with
those games and sports, in adequate facilities for games such as balls, nets especially for those who are playing volley ball and also some of games like golf swimming do not playing grounds which posses the challenges to those who are interested with such games.

RECOMMENDATION
For Solomon Mahlangu campus (SMC)
to overcome the challenges of sports and games infrastructures establish newly
playing ground in order to meet the increasing number of players in all games
also put more effort and resources in maintenance of the existing grounds which
will make players comfortable when they are playing their games.
