SOLOMON MAHLANGU LIBRARY-SUA


   THE MAZIMBU NEW LIBRARY

This is a library located in Solomon Mahlangu Campus the campus of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). It was inaugurated by minister of education honorable Jumanne Magembe in 2008 to replace the old library. It has two floors. The library also has rooms used as offices and also in other side there is branch of CRDB bank. 
New library has different books, journals, special documents, thesis, dissertation and research papers that are placed on shelves just below the first floor.

There is also a room with computers for online learning. Here students can access various online materials for learning purposes. These computers are supplied with wireless network connection.

Students can use also books or journals placed on shelves to study privately without disturbing one another.
To know the location of particular book, journal, research paper, library’s user should use computer with internet access that is found just below the first floor to search that book or journal using library catalogue that is found on SUA websites. The new library provides service from Monday to Saturday and on a day it is opened from 7:30Am to 22:00Pm.

Old library has no books and now days it is used by students for both personal/private study and group discussions unlike the new library where only personal study is commanded.

FURTHER DESCRIPTIONS OF SOLOMON MAHLANGU NEW LIBRARY. 
For the students to have direct access to new library he/she must pay library fee during his/her registration at the beginning of each semester. The library faces shortage of books for few degree programs such as BSc. AEA, Range, Rural Development and extension which their many relevant books are found in the Main campus library.
The new library has professional workers who provide library services to those with access to library. They recognize the permitted users of library by identification (user/student identity).

RECOMMENDATION
Generally the new library has good impression compared to the old one. Its environment enables users to read or study their subjects comfortably and in conducive. But toilets, water system and air conditioner should be reviewed and made available during studying time.
