STUDENT ACCOMMODATION SERVICES AT SUA-SMC CAMPUS

Accommodation services are coordinated by the Sokoine University of Agriculture Students Accommodation Bureau (SUASAB).Since the accommodation facilities are not adequate, SUASAB has devised a prioritization system for allocating room to students. The accommodation is managed by SUASAB as described sokoine universuty of agriculture accomodation buraue

HOLDING CAPACITY OF UNIVERSITY ACCOMODATION
Hence students may be offered accommodation in the University residence in order of the priority as (I)Students with physical disability (ii) Students with health challenges (iii) Foreign students (iv) First year students (v) Female students (vi) Finalist students (males) and Continuing students (males).

There are about six units in Solomon Mahlangu campus which each unit support about 180 students. All units are under the control of SUASAB office which is located in unit four (4). SUASAB office provides the accommodation service for limited number of students according to different priorities. Apart from that it is responsible for the environmentmanagement like slash of grasses, cleaning the corridors, toilets and theatre rooms as well as laboratory multipurpose hall in the Solomon Mahlangu campus (SMC). Aso student accommodated as per university regulation and accommodation bureau agreement as explained in accomodation agreement

CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES OF UNIVERSITY ACCOMODATION
The SUASAB managed to create refreshment centre such as cafeteria, and open space area including Unit 4 where different students can take advantage of resting over time. Its  where the most of male university students from different degree programs used to meet to take their lunch and refresh themselves by playing the pool table in a day. Pool table is most dominant game in unit 4, which students used to challenges with one another as a part of refreshment during a day.

CHALLENGES OF STUDENT ACCOMODATION
The same situation is with the hostels which now accommodate six students in the room instead of one-two. The hostels are in a terrible condition. Some parts of the hostel are very poorly and not very suitable for accommodation but needs some maintainance which is to be done by accommodation Bureau. Here are some interview exclusive made to some students explaining challenges and opportunities
