You have
probably read the article circulating online purporting that the daughter of
Uganda President revealed in a radio interview that she is a homosexual.
My thinking is that, the story was cooked in relation to the law that President Museveni signed recently regarding homosexuality in Uganda. A way to retaliate? Nevertheless, will lies change the status quo or propagate animosity? Perhaps it was meant, just, for a joke, and it spoofed some (sigh).
The truth is, the story originated from a satire website “Abril Uno”. You probably have figured out that “Abril” stands for “April” and “uno” stands for “one” which literally translates to “April the First” which we all (almost) know that it means, “Fools day”. Now, you wouldn’t trust anything from April Fool's day website, even if it was written prior or after that date.
If you read the website you should find this statement, “Abril Uno is a satire, parody and spoof web publication.” The story did not tell when the broadcast was aired, nor if they spoke to the alleged daughter neither his father, the President of Uganda, to balance and confirm the story. You wouldn’t ignore that crucial part before revealing to the mass, a story that’s expected to be big news.
Fellow bloggers, if you want your blog/site to be taken seriously, do yourself a favor by not publishing that post. If you do, then alert your readers that it is a fake.
