An aggressive form of HIV’ discovered in Cuba

In a new research researchers have discovered a new form of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) which develops into a full blown AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) in three years in Cuba. The researchers also mentioned, the progress of the virus is so fast that the anti-retroviral medicine doesn’t seem to work. 

One of the researchers Anne-Mieke Vandamme, a medical professor at Belgium’s University of Leuvan said, she was informed about the aggressive form of AIDS by her Cuban counterparts and was asked for her help to find the facts behind the scene. In a statement she said, “We have a collaborative project with Cuba and the Cuban clinicians had noticed that they recently had more and more patients who were progressing much faster to AIDS than they were used to [seeing].

Announcement of PhD Fellowship Positions in Health and Productivity of Livestock at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), Arusha, Tanzania. The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Arusha, Tanzania in collaboration with four partner universities; Penn State University (PSU), Washington State University (WSU), University of Glasgow (UoG) and Scotland Rural College (SRUC) will be implementing a PhD program entitled “Program for Enhancing the Health and Productivity of Livestock”. Supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the program is a joint effort of the five universities and it is intended to train and engage researchers on projects to improve the health of livestock and communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Under the program a multidisciplinary and international cohort of PhD students will be trained on development of effective strategies for improving the health and productivity of smallholder farmers’ livestock, and in turn enhance the wellbeing of households and communities. In this research-intensive training program, fellows will work to enhance the economic and food security of smallholder farmers in East Africa by improving livestock genetics, health, and productivity while safeguarding animal welfare, public health and the environment.

Ivory Coast wins first time since their last win in  1992, 23 years ago. It won the match against Ghana on penalties after a draw of 0-0 within 90 minutes and even after 120 minutes. The win on penalties were Ghana 8-9 Ivory Coast.

Sensory evaluation is a scientific discipline that analyses and measures human responses to the composition of food and drink, example appearance, touch, odour, texture, temperature and taste. It can be used to compare similarities or differences in a range of dishes or products, evaluate a range of existing dishes or food products, analyse food samples for improvements, gauge responses to a dish or product (acceptable, unacceptable, explore specific characteristics of an ingredient or dish/food product, check whether a final dish or food product meets its original specification, provide objective and subjective feedback data to enable informed decisions to be made. The most common sensory evaluation conducted is a subjective test (consumer preference test). This is widely used by food industries when launching a new food product in the market. The consumer preference test should be conducted to assure the overall acceptability of the food product to the consumers.

MSICHANA mlemavu, Christine Kavandi Kavale, mwenye umri wa  miaka 17 kutoka kijiji cha Kutha, eneobunge la Kitui Magharibi mwa Kenya alitumia mdomo kuandika majibu ya KCPE na akatia fora baada ya kujizolea alama 317 kati ya 500 na kuibuka wa kwanza katika kitongoji. Licha ya msichana huyo kuwa na ulemavu wa miguu pamoja na mikono, alikuwa mwanafunzi taa katika Shule ya Msingi ya Kithyoko, wilayani Masinga huko Kenya.

Kulingana na Naibu wa Mwalimu Mkuu wa shule hiyo Bwana Boniface Masaka aliyemfunza Christine tangu ajiunge na shule hiyo, palikuwepo matumaini chungu nzima kwamba angefanya vyema kwenye mtihani huo wa kitaifa licha ya kukumbana na changamoto kedekede.

The Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) started to inspect used motor vehicles in 2002, since then international tenders are advertised to look for qualified agents/companies to inspect vehicles on behalf of TBS. The former tender expired in 2014 hence TBS re-advertised international tender for inspection of used motor vehicles from Japan and United Arab Emirates. Nyie EWURA ni Kwanini bei ya Mafuta kwa walaji haishuki kwa kasi?

Kuanzia Mwezi Julai mwaka 2014 mpaka Desemba, bei ya mafuta ghafi imekuwa ikishuka kutoka $110 kwa pipa mpaka $56 kwa pipa. Mporomoko huu wa bei wa zaidi ya 45% haujaleta unafuu kwa mtumiaji wa kawaida wa mafuta wakiwemo wenye daladala, mabasi wala taxi na kupelekea nauli za usafiri wa umma kupungua. Leo bado bei ya mafuta kwenye vituo vya mafuta ni tshs 2000 kwa Petroli na 1900 kwa dizeli, bei ambayo ni karibia ile ile kwa miezi michache iliyopita.

CHENGE AMEJIUZULU

WAKATI Watanzania wakisubiri hatima ya Waziri wa Madini na Nishati Profesa Sospeter Muhongo, ambaye Rais Kikwete alisema anamuweka kiporo kutokana na kashfa ya Escrow, Mwenyekiti wa Kamati ya Kudumu ya Bunge ya Bajeti, Mh Andrew Chenge, ametangaza rasmi kuachia nafasi hiyo.

Bunge lililopita baada ya kujadili ripoti CAG kuhusu miamala ilyofanyika kwenye akaunti ya Tegeta Escrow iliyokuwa imefunguliwa Benki Kuu ya Tanzania, lilipitisha maazimio manane ikiwemo kuwajibishwa viongozi wa Serikali na wale wa kamati za Bunge walionekana kuhusika katika kashfa hiyo.

Kwa mujibu wa taarifa, Chenge alitangaza kujiuzulu nafasi yake juzi baada ya kamati yake kukutana kwenye ofisi ndogo za Bunge jijijni Dar es Salaam.
Mkurugenzi wa Idara ya shughuli za Bunge, John Joel, alipotakiwa kuthibitisha hili, alisema hayuko ofisini, hivyo hawezi kuwa na jibu la moja kwa moja.

TPDC:Umeme wa gesi kuanza mwezi ujao

Dar es Salaam. Watanzania waliokuwa wakisubiri kwa hamu kuanza kutumia umeme utokanao na mradi wa gesi asilia wa Kinyerezi, sasa watahitajika kuvuta subira kidogo kutokana na uzalishaji wa nishati hiyo kusogezwa hadi katikati ya mwezi ujao.

Awali, maofisa wa Shirika la Maendeleo ya Petroli Tanzania (TPDC) na makandarasi wa mradi kwa nyakati tofauti, walinukuliwa kuwa ujenzi ungekamilika Desemba mwaka jana na uzalishaji wa majaribio ungeanza mapema mwezi huu.

Hata hivyo, ripoti ya maendeleo ya mradi huo iliyotolewa jana na TPDC inaonyesha kuwa baadhi ya masuala ya ujenzi na ununuzi yanatarajiwa kukamilika mwishoni mwa mwezi huu na Februari.

Enriching Tomorrow: eLearning Africa 2015 Returns to Ethiopia

Rebecca Stromeyer, CEO of ICWE GmbH and Founder of eLearning Africa, joined H.E. Dr Debretsion Gebremichael, with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Communication and Information Technology of Ethiopia, today (Wednesday) to announce that the annual eLearning Africa conference will return to Ethiopia, the country of its inauguration, for its tenth anniversary edition. The conference, which is the largest international event in Africa on ICT for education, training and development, will be held in Addis Ababa from May 20th – 22nd, under the patronage of the Ethiopian Government.

Speaking of Ethiopia’s decision to host the event, H.E. Dr Debretsion Gebremichael said, “My government is pleased to host eLearning Africa as this is a conference returning to Ethiopia, where my government joined arms with ICWE in conceiving and launching the first eLearning Africa platform on African soil. eLearning Africa 2015 will create an opportunity to reflect on the 10 year journey traversed by eLearning Africa since its first conference in Addis Ababa. Taarifa ya Tume ya Uchaguzi kuhusu Zoezi la BVR la Kuboresha Daftari la Kudumu la Wapiga Kura

Mfano wa mashine ya mfumo wa BVR

Ndugu Waandishi wa Habari, Mkurugenzi wa Uchaguzi, Watendaji wa Tume, Mabibi na Mabwana.
Kwa niaba ya Tume ya Taifa ya Uchaguzi, napenda kuchukua fursa hii kuwakaribisheni kwa mara nyingine katika Mkutano huu. Nawashukuru kwamba, pamoja na majukumu mengi mliyo nayo, mmeweza kuupa umuhimu wa pekee mkutano wetu huu na kuhudhuria kwa wingi. Kwa niaba ya Tume ya Taifa ya Uchaguzi, nasema Ahsanteni na Karibuni sana.

Katika mkutano huu, Tume inalenga kutoa taarifa kuhusu tathmini ya utekelezaji wa zoezi la majaribio ya Uboreshaji wa Daftari la Kudumu la Wapiga Kura (Pilot Registration) kwa mfumo wa Biometric Voters Registration (BVR) zoezi ambalo lilikamilika wiki iliyopita.

Fedha ni muhimu sana kwenye maisha yetu ya kila siku. Hii ni kwa sababu fedha ndio inatuwezesha kupata mahitaji yote ya msingi kwenye maisha. Hivyo ili kuwa na maisha bora ni muhimu sana kuwa na fedha za kutosha. Kwa kifupi inabidi uwe na fedha za kukutosheleza au kwa kutumia neno rahisi ni muhimu wewe kuwa tajiri. Au kama hupendi kutumia neno tajiri kwa kufikiri sio neno zuri basi ni muhimu wewe kuwa na uhuru wa kifedha.

Utakuwa na uhuru wa kifedha pale ambapo fedha inakuwa sio hofu tena kwako. Na ili kuweza kufikia hatua hii kuna njia ambazo ni muhimu kupitia. Leo tutajadili njia nne za uhakika za kufikia utajiri na jinsi unavyoweza kuzitumia. Kwa bahati mbaya sana katika njia hizi ile ambayo inapendwa na watu wengi haipo. Njia hiyo inayopendwa na watu wengi na ambayo haiwezi kukufikisha kwenye uhuru wa kifedha au utajiri ni ajira. Baadae tutaona ni kwa nini ni vigumu sana kufikia uhuru wa kifedha kupitia ajira.
